Our History
Come out for a night of fine dining in our dining room
or
relax in our lounge after a long day.
In
1947, Bud Homan, the original owner, bought an Air Force guard house
located at the Mitchell airport and opened a restaurant in the building.
Because he was fresh out of the Navy, he decided to name the place
the Brig (the name for a Navy prison).
The Brig operated at the airport from 1947 to 1951
when it was moved to its current location. Over the years, additions
to the original building have allowed The Brig to grow. In 1952,
the lounge and bar area were added. In 1966, the east lounge was
added, allowing The Brig to accommodate large groups such as wedding
dances and Christmas parties.
There
were two previous owners before the current owner, Todd Dikoff,
bought The Brig in May of 1998. Todd, who started at The Brig in
1987, attended chef school from 1986 to 1988. He took over as head
chef in 1989 and still believes in cutting and aging all the meat.
He also makes delicious soups and salads from scratch, which are
used on the tantalizing salad bar.
At The Brig Steakhouse & Lounge, you can enjoy
a more formal dining experience in our dining room overlooking Lake
Mitchell, or you can relax and unwind in our lounge.
